Drunk on Love

When one of our favorite couples, Rocky and Kassie, recently got engaged, I jumped at the opportunity to host an Engagement Party for them!  These two love birds are a young and fun couple, so naturally, I wanted the theme to fit their personality!  With the help of a few other hostesses, we decided it would be a “Stock the Bar” party!  We set the party date for October and the decor inspiration was “Fall Glam”
imageI LOVE the Custom Coaster Invitations that we sent out!  They turned out so cute and set the tone for the theme!image

First Impressions are important!  When the guests first walked in, we had a “Pumpkin” Guest Book for them to sign!  I just spray painted a faux pumpkin and the guests used white paint pens to write.imageThere was also an opportunity for guests to write a “message in a bottle” for the couple to enjoy on one of their wedding anniversaries!
imageimageWe were expecting 60-80 guests and the party started at dinner time so the food was very important!  I hate to brag, but the food all turned out AH-MAZING!imageimageimageimage

  • Smoked Salmon w/ Dill Sauce
  • Pork Tenderloin w/ Hawaiian Rolls
  • BBQ Cocktail Weenies
  • Spinach Dip
  • Vegetable Tray
  • Olive Cream Cheese Ball
  • Cheese Bake
  • Pasta Salad
  • Cinnamon Sugar Pecans
  • Kettle Corn
  • Caramel Covered Grapes
  • Hand-Painted Cookies

Trick or Treat

This was a very DIY Halloween, from the costume to the treats!  Everything turned out adorable!  I decided my lil man would be a scuba diver this year!  He was SO excited about wearing his costume that mommy made using coke bottles, flexible tubing, and velcro!  The black onsie was from Kickee Pants!imageimageI also made some really cute “treats” to pass out to his little friends at Mother’s Day Out.  There are a couple of kids in his class with severe food allergies so I wanted to do something besides candy.  I ordered the Fubbles Bubble Wand Party Pack and tied on these adorable FREE PRINTABLES with a spider ring and some green raffia!  The bubbles are seriously the best bubbles I’ve ever had!imageWe had a fabulous time “Trunk or Treating” this year!  He didn’t even know they were passing out candy, but he was SO excited!imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

One Happy Camper

After my son turned 7 months old, it hit me that his 1st Birthday was right around the corner!  I immediately began brainstorming ideas for my little summer baby.  One day someone commented that he was a “happy camper”!  And there you have it, THAT was my inspiration!  He IS a happy camper and love the great outdoors.  It turned out to be such a precious party!

When planning a party, I almost always start with the invitation….imageI love the simplicity and all the colors of this one from I Heart to Party!  She kindly customized it for Krewe’s birthday party!  Not only did she design the printable invitations, but a whole collection including thank you cards, food signs, banners, and more.  Using the collection, gave the party fluidity and tied it all together.

After I picked the invitation, the next order of business was finding the perfect tent!  How can you camp without a tent?!  I thought this one from Land of Nod was perfect!image

And of course I had to get the Campfire Set to go with it!imageIt made for the perfect photo opportunity with all the babies!  They went crazy over it!imageOf course Krewe had to dress the party in this personalized t-shirt from Sew Cute Just 4 U and organic camping themed leggings from Paisley Pear Designs.

The food went with the camping theme too!

  • lil smokies (BBQ cocktail weenies)
  • bug bites (pieces of chicken and jalepeno wrapped in bacon)
  • smoked salmon with dill suace
  • rainbow trout (goldfish crackers)
  • live bait (gummy worms)
  • dirt cups (oreo pudding)
  • wild berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • campfire flames (Cheetos)
  • veggie tray
  • BLT bites
  • Teddy Grahams
  • sleeping bags (tortilla roll ups)
  • bug juice (See recipe below)
  • campfire cookies
  • canteen water
  • s’mores
  • trail mix
  • and a fabulous campfire cake made by my best friend, Kriss!imageI coverd the tables with burlap and used lots of galvanized metal serving pieces.  I decorated with red lanterns, pinecones, framed pictures, a toy fishing pole, and even a plastic snake!  The tackle box was filled with gummy worms for the “live bait” and I served the “wild berries” in actual berry flats that I found at Hobby Lobby!  I put soft drinks and beer in an old canoe and iced them down!

One of my favorite displays was the bar area where I put the hand painted “Campfire Cookies” and “Bug Juice”!  It was one of the first things that guests saw as they first walked in and I felt it really set the tone.imageI dressed the bar with a plaid tablecloth found at Hobby Lobby.  I hot glued plastic bugs to the beehive shaped drink dispenser and filled it with punch.  To add the extra touch, I used the circle tags from the collection at I Heart to Party to make straw tags and food signs.

  • 2 64 oz. Dole Pineapple Juice
  • 1 2 liter Sprite
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 2 cans frozen limeade
  • Neon green food coloring

I made my own trail mix and served the different kinds in metal buckets with these awesome FREE Printable Lables!  The trail mix bags were handstamped by With Love and Ink!  They also made napkins that said “Camp Krewe”!imageFor Party favors, I found these small colorful flashlights for $1 at Walmart.  Perfect for tiny hands!imageI ordered this highchair banner from Raw Edge Sewing Company , balloon with tassel from Iris Blingtique, and chalkboard sign from Chalk Full of Grace!

Welcome to Diapers & Rosé!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!  Let me tell you a little about me and why I started blogging.

I owned a trendy clothing boutique until my son was born and I chose to become a stay at home mom.  Best decision I could have made!  Although I still have a passion for fashion, I am now able to enjoy more of my favorite hobbies.

TRAVEL: As you will learn, my family likes adventure!  My (21 month old) son has been on over 50 airplane rides, traveled to 7 states, and 3 countries!  We haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on our to do list.  We actually live 9 months out of the year in Arkansas, and about 3 months off and on in the Dutch Antilles on the island of St. Maarten. I’ve become a pseudo expert on traveling with a baby and taking a baby to the beach.  I love to share what I’ve learned with moms and dads!

PARTIES:  I LOVE to host parties.  Whether it’s a small dinner party for friends, a baby shower, or a birthday party…. I love to plan it, cater it, and decorate it!  After all, life’s a party and there is always a reason to celebrate!

CRAFTS:  I enjoy anything artsy and making crafts!  If it’s DIY, I’m all about it….from making Valentine’s gifts for my son’s classmates to designing t-shirts!

INTERIOR DECORATING:  I’m definitely not a professional, but I’ve got a pretty good eye for things!  My style is very eclectic and I love to blend antiques with more modern pieces.

I hope you enjoy my blog, where I’ll write about everything….. from Diapers to Rosé!
